| Short description: | The aim of the course is to acquaint student with veterinary dietetics and possibilities to use it in practice. During the course they are learned about the diet influences (role of nutrient) or diet support of pharmacological therapy of certain diseases. |

| Learning outcomes: | Knowledge: - describes the type of commercial product and diets for dogs and cats - analyzes the nutritional requirements of healthy dogs and cats and in specific diseases - ndicates the characteristic features of various type of vet diet and shows theirs use - describe the home-made and commercial diets - indentify the supplements, used in prophylaxis and treatment of chosen dogs and cats diseases Skills: - defines the essential nutrients of vet diets - independently carried out the dietary course for a specific diagnosis - determine the necessary preventive and medicinal dietary supplements - estimates the daily doses of commercial and home-made diets consistent with the current needs of the animal Social competences: - sets out the diet as an adjunct treatment and prevention of diseases of dogs and cats |
| Assessment methods and assessment criteria: | The rating obtained for the classes of 50% and an assessment of credit obtained from the lectures 50% - credit. |
